Weighing in at a smushy loveable 50 lbs, Athena is a smart and cuddly 11 month old boxer mix love bug. She is happy to keep the people she loves company, snuggling up right beside them (or on them). No one has told her she isn’t a lap dog, and she probably wouldn’t believe anyone if they did. She is extremely loyal and becomes attached very easily; she will be your shadow, indoors and out. She is wonderful on a leash, and she also has great off leash recall, when necessary. Athena can get nervous in certain situations, and needs a dedicated, loving, patient owner to help reinforce her confidence during these times. Once she is comfortable in her surroundings, she shows off her take charge personality. She would love to be the main superstar of a household to soak in all of the attention, but she would also be okay in an environment with easy going pets who do not mind if she takes center stage. She has a big, affectionate personality, and she will keep you laughing a lot of the time. Athena responds well to learning, and is very food and praise motivated. She knows the commands “sit”, “come”, “leave it”, “lie down”, “high five” and “paw”. She also knows the word “wait” and listens for the cue “yes” to eat when her food is placed down. Athena is also completely potty trained, and rings hanging bells when she needs to go outside. This girl is an A+ smarty-pants all the way!
