Meet our Thanksgiving miracles, Pork Chop and Pancake.
One of our volunteers was driving down a desolate road in Lewisville, Akansas when he saw a dog run into the road and then off into a field. Seeing the dog scared and almost hit by oncoming traffic, he pulled over his tractor-trailer and searched for her. As soon as he found the terrified girl, she lay on her back, exposed her stomach, and begged to be pet. Emaciated beyond words and engulfed in ticks, the girl was not alone. Our volunteer looked up and saw another dog laying in the field. Upon approach, he saw that he found another puppy. Friendly and lethargic, he was able to pet them both…Then, he brought them into his tractor-trailer and hit the road. The rest is history.
In Memphis, they got brand new leashes, collars, bowls, food, flea and tick spray, and bath time. Camp Bow Wow allowed him to give them both baths and remove the dozens upon dozens of ticks feeding on them. They also received manicures and pedicures (nail polish not included)
So meet Pancake (female) and Pork chop (male) – 8 month(ish) old siblings weighing about 41 lbs. Incredibly bonded, the 2 spoon each other while they sleep. Quickly, we learned that they are wonderful travel companions and love the open road. Now, Pork chop and Pancake are as perfectly healthy! Meeting other dogs is a breeze, and they welcome all those that cross their path. Who knows what their former life was or destined to become. What we do know is that these 2 are just a joy to be around. They could not be more grateful to have spent their first Thanksgiving in a loving warm home- surrounded by those that love them.
We are unsure about the 2 cuties’ relation to one another. However, Pork Chop is growing and getting tall. While, the vet believes Pancake is full grown; Again, these 2 are GREAT with dogs, cats are still questionable. Maybe a love/hate relationship? Maybe something that needs some patience?
Pork Chop and Pancake are HOUSE, PAPER, CREATE, and LEASH trained!!! When in the crate, they like to be in one together. After Pork Chop drinks water, Pancake licks his mouth. She always licks his ears and face…constantly cleaning him. They LOVE each other!
They LOVE toys. Pancake has a special affinity towards squeaky toys and playing chase. These 2 angels CUDDLE like its their life’s calling! Truly, they are a wonderful addition into any home.
