Cole entered our care as an owner surrender. He is a 15 lb 3 year old chi/poodle/bichon mix that was adopted from another rescue at 5 months old. The rescue refused to take him back. So, his humans contacted us and TPR decided to give this guy a chance. We do not know what his life was like for those 5 months before adoption.
Cole is little, a walking fluffy teddy bear. A walking sour patch kid, Cole’s sweet side is perfection- quiet, good on leash, great with dogs, housebroken, and well trained. Outside, Cole is very friendly and enjoys meeting other dogs. He makes friends easily and is indifferent to felines. His challenging component is that he is basically a feral cat. He will approach you when he wants affection and love, but gets uncomfortable, and becomes disinterested in human contact. Cole struggles with body handling and only enjoys it in small doses. All in all, Cole just needs someone that will give him the space he needs and limited affection, until he is ready- whenever that may be.
We firmly believe that there is someone out there for everyone. Until we find that perfect person, Cole needs a foster home that will help him be his best self. He will not do well in boarding and we worry he will only worsen without a consistent human interaction and home. Bouncing him around would be detrimental to a boy who already struggles to trust. If you are interested, we can work on having a couple meetings with him in his current foster home.
