***FOSTER/ADOPTER NEEDED ASAP!***

Meet beautiful 3 year old, tan, 48lb pittie princess April! An Aries, born April 7, 2012, April is an absolutely passionate love bug! This fawn beauty is spayed, vaccinated, and chipped. When she was just 3 months old, April was purchased by a human from a breeder. August 2014 the humans had a bay and moved from their apartment into one that forbid pits from living there. The human’s parents took her in temporarily. They are an elderly couple and CANNOT hold on to April any longer. There is no way around this for them.

April attended a 7 week family dog training class and worked with a private trainer. She is the valedictorian of her classes and quickly masters any task you give her! April needs to be a family member. Her love is unconditional and infinite. Is it too much that she hopes to find a home that loves her in return? She is more than a watch dog or your outdoor alarm system. This girl is GEM in the home and perfectly behaved.

A gregarious girl, April loves to cuddle and dote love on all humans, especially kids. April loves giving babies and kids kisses and and toe licks! She does ask for some attention and exercise though. Running, playing, chasing a ball are all thoughts that bring a wiggle to her butt and wag to her tail. She is wonderful with her ‘leave it’ command and drops the ball right at your feet or the palm of your hand! Are you a jogger or runner? Great! April also loves to strut her stuff and would make a wonderful partner.

The perfect home for April would have a fenced in backyard or nearby park for her to hang out and play in. Her past home had trash and dangerous objects in their yard. As a result, she has scars on her front leg 🙁 They left her along in a small apartment all day and she was so so sad- she often went days without a walk outside! April needs and wants to blossom in a loving home! This girl has endless potential and we see it in every hair of her body, twinkle in her eyes, and perk of her ears.

April gets along with other dogs. Sometimes, she stays with a dog sitter who watches several dogs at a time in a big yard and they are not crated at night. However, she can be bossy with dogs that will let her get away with anything. So, she would do well in a home with other dogs if the dogs and humans are savvy. If not, she is the perfect beginner dog for a new dog parent with no other pets!

She walks/heels on a gentle leader, rides in the car, loves to go for walks, and visits people in stores. The PERFECT rode dog and companion!

Some of her training commands include sit/down/stay, “leave it” for anything (this also works well for playing fetch/dropping ball as opposed to “drop it”), “wait” (for going through door so you go first or going down stairs), put food down and she waits for command “ok” before eating, ”heel” and sits when you stop – walks on gentle leader, ”easy” – when giving a treat make sure she does not go to grab it…pull it back until she allows you to put near mouth, “off” if she jumps up when you come in door and make her “sit/down” to contain herself, “find it” – you hide a piece of food and ask her to find it…reward with clicker still at this point when she finds the treat for word association, “no bark/enough” to stop her , “roll it” for the food stimulation ball so she doesn’t pick it up to chew on and rolls it to get food out.
