Meet myra!! Myra is a 10 year old love bug currently in foster care. Myra has had a difficult past; she was abused by her previous owner, and then waited 7 years in shelters for someone to bring her home. Myra has been in foster care since November 2019, and has made immense progress during that time!! Myra is completely potty trained and is excellent in the house. She has not destroyed anything in her foster mom’s apartment. Myra loves long walks and exploring! She’s great on the leash and is non-reactive to passerby’s, both human and canine, on the streets of Manhattan. Given Myra’s difficult past, it takes time for her to get to know and feel comfortable with people, particularly men. But once she is comfortable, she really is a cuddle bug. She can be food and resource aggressive, but has been making strides of progress.
Myra is affectionate and kind. She does like other dogs, but we feel she would do best as an only dog. Truly, after a lifetime of neglect, abuse, and then disappointment she is deserving of a loving home. Literally, she was bred and had cigarettes put out on her. Please be it for her. How terrible that her original name was ‘My Hoe’? Telling of what her former life was. She would do well as the only pet in a quiet home with an experienced owner, without children or elderly.
Myra is some sort mix. She would be so happy to have a spa day and a home to help improve her hair and skin condition. Nothing TLC won’t solve.
